What Causes Mold Growth?
Mold can be an unseen monster in your home. We now know it can grow in many unexpected places and spread to other locations through the air or cross contamination. It is widely understood that numerous health concerns can derive from inflammatory or toxic types. There are basically three different types to deal with in the residence, Aspergillus, Cladosporium, and Stachybotrysatra (Black Mold). We know that these problems can damage the home and lead to serious health concerns for you or your family, but you also need to know what causes mold growth in your home.
The basic two causes of mold growth in the residence are moisture and humidity. Under normal conditions, the bathroom is the ideal location to find moisture. It is not unusual to find mold around your toilet (Cladosporium) or in the grout around your tub, shower or ceiling (stachybotrys atra). These areas should be cleaned quickly using products specifically designed for the job. Mixtures of bleach are commonly used, but remember that these products are composed of 90% water, so it is important to dry the area thoroughly after cleaning. Basic water leaks or flooding are also major causes that should be eliminated and cleaned up as quickly as possible.
